Q: I need a replacement extractor for my 6.5 Grendel built on an AR platform. What does Type II pertain to?

Asked by: Tony - 7/5/2021
A: Type II pertains to a 6.5 Grendel Bolt that has a bolt face of .135".

Q: How do I know if my Grendel uses type 1 or 2 extractor

Asked by: Tom rogers - 3/26/2021
A: You will need to use caliper and measure the bolt face.
A .136" bolt face is a 6.5 Grendel or as as industry calls Type II bolt. The 7.62x39 will have a .125" bolt face known in the industry as Type I bolt.

Q: Hello, I have a bear creek 6.5 grendel ar15, and am wondering if this extractor will work for me?? Sincerely J Caudle

Asked by: Jeff Caudle - 3/3/2021
A: I'm not sure, we are only aware of the problems with the 7.62x39 but if they machine their 6.5 Grendels with the wrong extractor pocket that doesn't allow the extractor to sit properly flush like they do their 7.62x39 bolt assemblies it can be an issue. We just haven't heard of any issues, as of yet, with the 6.5 Grendel bolts.

Q: I’ve read that this .135 recess extractor is compatible and will function in a 7.62x39 bolt. To your knowledge, is this correct?

Asked by: Namon Jackson - 12/21/2020
A: No you will experience extraction issues. If you have a 6.5 bolt assembly stick with a 6.5 Grendel Extractor and if you have a 7.62x39 bolt assembly stick with a 7.62x39 Extractor. The ten thousands difference in bolt face face does make a difference.

Q: Will your Grendel type II extractor also work in a type I bolt ?

Asked by: Robert - 7/10/2020
A: No as a Type one bolt has a .125" bolt face and a Type II has a .136" bolt face. You would need a 7.62x39 extractor which is considered a type I bolt with a .125" bolt face.
